The North Pole

The Equator

At the equator, every day is an equinox with equal length days and nights.

Tropic of Cancer

The Tropic of Cancer is latitude 23.5 degrees North. This is the northernmost latitude where the sun reaches directly overhead. On the Tropic of Cancer the sun is directly overhead at noon on the summer solstice.

Arctic Circle

The Arctic Circle is latitude 66.6 degrees North, which is 23.5 degrees from the North Pole. The Arctic Circle is the southernmost latitude which experiences the midnight sun, a day when the sun never sets.
